“Recycling Traditions”
Bulloch Hall’s 27th Annual Great American Cover-Up Quilt Show
Presented by the Bulloch Hall Quilt Guild
What would happen if a set of vintage quilt blocks was divided between a number of quilt artists and each was left to create a quilt in her own unique style? Find out at this year’s Bulloch Hall quilt show!
Our theme this year is “Recycling Traditions”, featuring “Vintage Revisited”, a block challenge exhibit from Virginia. “In the Spring of 2006, quilters of all backgrounds were invited to participate in a challenge to recycle vintage quilt blocks by using them in their own new and inventive designs. Over the course of two years, six sets of vintage blocks were distributed to 19 quilt artists. The blocks were theirs to play with. They could add to it, cut it up, embellish it, recreate it, and improve upon it. The only requirement was that the finished quilt measure 24" x 24" and that the original block be included in the final project."
Another exciting exhibit includes the Bulloch Hall Quilt Guild Challenge Quilts, an innovative collection designed by guild members to meet the challenge of designing quilts using only black, white and one single splash of color.
Come enjoy the results of these unique challenges and many more quilts ranging from the traditional to the outrageous!
Bulloch Hall Quilt Guild produces the show and sale annually. Boasting an average participation of 100 quilters and collectors, the show will include approximately 200 quilts by local artists displayed throughout historic Bulloch Hall. Awards for the best quilts submitted by local artists are sponsored by local businesses.
Many pieces will be available for purchase during the show.
