This year marks the 23nd Annual Magnolia Ball which benefits President Theodore Roosevelt's mother's beautiful 1839 childhood home, Bulloch Hall.
The event, chaired by Ed Tate, will be held at the Atlanta Country Club in Marietta on June 14, 2008. The evening begins with cocktails, entertainment, a silent auction with gifts donated by local businesses and individuals followed by dinner and dancing once again to the fabulous music of "The Grapevine."
"We decided to make the move to Atlanta Country Club to accommodate more guests," explained Pam Billingsley, Bulloch Hall's Administrator and Site Director. The black tie event, chaired by former Roswell City Councilman Ed Tate will be a delightful evening of silent and live auctions, dining, and dancing to the ever popular "Grapevine."
Chair Ed Tate welcomes Malon D. Mimms Company once again as the Presenting Sponsor. Additional local sponsors include Lincoln Capitol Advisors, Bob Hagan, and Healthcare Service and Offset Atlanta. Jezebel Magazine is the media sponsor. This year we also have Town Center Nissan as our Live Auction sponsor. Ron Swatty, Dealer Principal of Town Center Nissan said the company is donating a one year lease for a 2008 Nissan Altima.
The Magnolia Ball committee, whose members include Chadwick Hagan of Atlanta, and Sue Sloop of Smyrna, have a spectacular evening planned for the guests who attend. According to Ms. Billingsley, "Over the past several years, we have had 'theme' Balls, this year we celebrate 'The Roaring Twenties'. The decorations, favors and entertainment will reflect the extravagance and glamour of the early twenties, and we are encouraging everyone to dress the part."
This is one of the biggest fundraisers for Bulloch Hall and is presented by Friends of Bulloch, Inc. and the Bulloch Hall Board of Governors.
Magnolia Ball reservations are $125 per person. For invitations call or email, Pam Billingsley, Bulloch Hall Site Coordinator. 770-992-1731 ext 223, pbilingsley@ci.roswell.ga.us
Corporate sponsorships are available. For Corporate Sponsorship opportunities call Corporate Chair, Chad Hagan, 770-993-4000.
Funds raised by this years Ball are earmarked for two projects. The first is the completion, developement and the implementation of programs for the Children's Museum room. The second project is the restoration of the original open-hearth fireplace in the Bulloch Hall kitchen. This fireplace is used as teaching tool for both children and adults, and as a means to generate funds. Due to age and deterioration it must be restored before it can be used
again. This is very specialized and costly project.
ABOUT BULLOCH HALL
Bulloch Hall, the 1839 childhood home of Mittie Bulloch (Roosevelt), President Theodore Roosevelt's mother, is open for tours daily and welcomes thousands of visitors annually. Specialty tours can be set up in advance for schools, Scouts, clubs, elder hostels and other groups. Events throughout the year include The Great American Cover-Up Quilt Show in the spring, Camp Bulloch for children in the summer, and Christmas at Bulloch Hall, with the High Teas and the reenactment of Mittie's wedding in December.
The Magnolia Ball, held in June, is the major fund-raiser of the year.
